Dr. Gerald Andriole received his undergraduate education at Pennsylvania State University and his medical school training at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. His surgical and urologic training were taken at the Strong Memorial Hospital University of Rochester, Rochester, New York and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1985 he became a faculty member of the Urologic Surgery Department with Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo. Since 1999 he has held his current appointment of Professor and Chief of the Urologic Surgery Department with Washington University School of Medicine.
Dr. Andriole has over 30 years of consistent contributions in the areas of BPH and prostate cancer screening and prevention research. He has contributed well over 400 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts and serves on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals. He is Chairman of the Prostate Committee of the National Cancer Institute’s Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial and of the Steering Committee of the REDUCE Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial. He is a member of the American Urological Association, American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Surgical Association and the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons among other societies.
