This session demonstrates a project to determine the factors that could affect successful growth of a summer lawn. The eminence of a new lawn is directly related to the success of establishment, hence, a well-spruced lawn requires a great effort, attention to details, and quality design of experiment to achieve the required results. Five factors were selected that could affect the lawn growth. Taguchi robust design methodology with internal array and external array was used to do the initial screening method, where five controllable factors were tested with the design matrix of L8 (inner array) and L4 (outer array) chosen for three uncontrollable factors. At the later stage, a 2k factorial experiment, in two blocks, was utilized to determine which factors and which levels to recommend. Taguchi’s S/N ratio (bigger is better) transformation was used to transform the data before conducting the ANOVA in the first experiment.
