This interactive session will present a case study from ASQ’s International Team Excellence Award. Instead of just theoretical approaches, we will look at the practical application of root cause analysis as well as develop strategies to overcome resistance to this vital step of the improvement process. The session will first develop a refined and clear definition of root cause analysis (RCA). Next, we will discuss why many people within an organization resist RCA. We will then look at how the project team overcame resistance from various departments. Finally, we will see how the team used both creative and analytic tools to identify multiple root causes.
