This session will help leaders understand what is expected of them in building and sustaining a lean management system. The session has four interrelated segments that assist leaders in: understanding the behaviors, attributes, and skills required in a lean organization; what is expected of leaders in delivering tools and materials; how leaders are expected to "show up" on the gemba; and how to coach their teams to develop effective problem-solving skills to build a culture of quality. This session will be presented from two perspectives: a general manager (GM) on a journey to becoming a lean leader, and a lean coach presenting research-based and experiential theory.

Learning Objectives:

• Complete a self-assessment as a leader on the continuum from traditional management to lean leadership.
• Create an action plan for personal development as it relates to the outcome of a self-assessment.
• Build leader standard work using examples of templates provided by the presenters.
