Micronutrient Forum
Saskia Osendarp is the Executive Director of the Micronutrient Forum. She has more than 25 years of experience in international nutrition research, in both public as well as private sector, and a proven track record in initiating, managing and completing international research collaborations, program evaluations, innovation projects with successful market launches, and public-private partnerships in the area of maternal, infant and young child nutrition, role of micronutrients along the life cycle, fortification and home fortification and nutrition and child development. She is a visiting associate professor Nutrition and Health in Low and Middle Income Countries at Wageningen University
She lived and worked for 9 years in low- and middle income countries, of which 7 years in Bangladesh at the ICDDR,B: an international public health research institute. Subsequently she spent 10 years in Unilever as lead scientist micronutrients and child nutrition where she was responsible for Unilever’s research activities in the area of child nutrition, health and fortified foods as well as for the content and communication of several innovation projects in the area of micronutrients and child nutrition.
From 2012 to 2019 she was working as independent consultant for international NGOs, academia and research institutes, private sector, donor governments and private donor organisations. In addition, she was the founder and co-chair of the Netherlands Working Group on International Nutrition (NWGN), a multi-sectoral working group to promote the inclusion of both nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive approaches in evidence-informed policies and strategies of Dutch stakeholders and author or co-author on more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
