Landscape architects working on coastal adaptation can expand their use of modeling and play a role in developing modeling to inform adaptation.This session explores opportunities for collaboration between designers with oceanographers, engineers, and climatologists to inform scenario modeling and explore coastal adaptation actively through quantitative analysis and modeling tools.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn how landscape architects can integrate modeling as a tool for planning and adaptation solutions to inform restoration and living shorelines.
• Understand the limitations to modeling and the issues uncertainty and how these can translate into planning and design challenges.
• Expand opportunities for partnering with research engineers and oceanographers to address climate change through adaptive management.
• Differentiate data analysis limitations, modeling opportunities, and translation into planning tools and scenario analysis, and the role for field research to ground truth and inform modeling approaches as practical knowledge.
