Kim worked for The Nature Conservancy, taught college, and is now at Applied Ecological Services. He graduated from Kalamazoo College (BA), Western Michigan (MA), and the University of Minnesota (PhD). Kim practices applied ecology – bringing science and ecology to the challenge of making human activity and development fit safely into the natural world, while creating economic prosperity and healthy places for people. In addition to scientific papers and other articles, Kim co-authored two books: Valley of Grass: Tallgrass Prairie and Parkland in the Red River Region, and Nature, Culture, and Two Friends Talking, a collection of environmental essays.
