Prior to joining the design profession, Carly Klein worked summers in the field for the Bureau of Land Management learning first-hand the risks of wildfire on the landscape and built environments of the West. Now, as a Landscape Designer at Design Workshop, her natural systems experiences inform design and planning projects ranging from master plans, recreation studies, and site-scale design. On her projects in environmentally vulnerable contexts like Zion National Park and Crested Butte, Colorado, Carly collaborates with local decision-makers and stakeholders to develop solutions that balance growing recreation demands, strong economic futures and natural hazard resilience.
