Tijuana is San Diego’s sister city and part of the binational region with a booming economy, large population and growing design sector. Take a tour behind the headlines and discover a design-focused, creative city. You'll be introduced to new projects and proposed park systems by knowledgeable insiders.

$175 per person before July 12; $190 after July 12; includes transportation, water, tour guide, and catered lunch. Moderate walking. Attendees must have a valid passport to cross the border.

Learning Objectives:

• Develop an intermediate-level understanding of the Mexican/Latin American design field and its advantages, shortcomings, and potential future advancements.
• Gain insight into Baja California’s future park systems, the current state of park space in Tijuana, and the history of public space in Tijuana.
• Participate in a panel discussion on the state of landscape architecture in Mexico and the prospect of developing a Landscape Architecture University Program in Tijuana with cross-border collaboration.
• Develop a basic understanding of the financial requirements, design standards, and plan processing required to develop a project in Baja California.
