Explore the San Elijo Lagoon through this walking tour of beach and hillside trails. Take in the views of the vast San Elijo Lagoon ecological restoration project. Visit adjacent projects that address adapting to the impacts of urban sprawl, climate change, and habitat restoration with environmental resiliency through sustainability and stewardship.

$150 per person by July 12; $165 after July 12; includes transportation, water, and catered lunch. Extensive walking and moderate hiking.

Learning Objectives:

Gain insights on how large-scale ecological restoration and environmental design projects provide protection for biodiverse and sensitive habitats.
Understand how to approach a project with competing interests and sensitive habitat within high demand coastal communities and what we as landscape architects do to inform design, protect, manage, and sustain.
Learn about balancing regulatory demands on habitat creation for meeting habitat species needs of higher and lower regulatory concern.
Discuss how design strategies inform the collaboration between professions, including the Construction Manager General Contractor process, particularly landscape architects, environmental scientists, biologists, engineers, and general contractors.
