Evidence continues to support the need for children and families to connect with the natural world. Focusing on underserved communities, this field session will showcase a variety of nature-based outdoor learning environments throughout San Diego. Hosts and presenters will provide insights into designing, implementing, and managing successful nature-based educational environments.

$110 per person before July 12; $125 after 7/12; includes transportation, water, and boxed lunch. Moderate walking.

Learning Objectives:

• Understand research findings supporting the child development impacts of nature play and learning.
• Gain insight into San Diego’s efforts in improving nature-based learning environments.
• Examine the opportunities, constraints, and lessons learned in the design and implementation of nature-based learning environments.
• Explore key precedents and considerations for designing, building, funding, and managing nature-based outdoor learning environments.
