There is a growing necessity to use landscape performance to quantify the sustainability benefits of landscape architecture. This session presents methods that every landscape architect or design firm can use to assess multiple aspects of site performance, starting with data sampling basics and including metrics used toward attaining SITES certification.

To ensure the most successful learning outcomes and inform discussions during the group breakouts, we are seeking input from our members. TAKE SURVEY

Learning Objectives:

• Identify strategies and standardized methods for good scientific data collection for use in quantifying and improving landscape performance benefits for environmental, socio-cultural, and economic performance.
• Learn how to measure and monitor the benefits of green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) to understand how a site functions as an integrated GSI system to achieve SITES v2 Water Credit 3.3.
• Explore methods for determining the overall health of a soil during the site assessment, construction, and post-occupancy phases, and how they can be applied toward SITES v2 Construction Prerequisite 7.3.
• Understand which financial benefits of green infrastructure are being targeted by municipalities and design teams, and how they can be applied to SITES v2 Operations + Maintenance Prerequisite 8.1: Plan for sustainable site maintenance.
• Learn which financial benefits of GI are being targeted by municipalities and design teams, and how they can be applied to SITES v2 Prerequisite 8.1 Plan for sustainable site maintenance.
• Identify key players who can support a performance monitoring plan to achieve SITES v2 Education Credit 9.3, and to share the value of the performance goals with clients, stakeholders, and citizens.
