Academic and Clinical Education
The purpose of this session is to introduce attendees to specifications grading, a pass/fail grading system with high expectations and grading transparency, and provide an example of how Specifications Grading can be incorporated into a pediatric physical therapy course. This session will first review the literature on alternative grading. Then we will discuss the how specifications grading was implemented in one pediatric physical therapy course, including examples of assignments, pros and cons of implementation, student feedback, and student outcomes. Finally, the course will conclude with discussion about implementing specifications grading in courses that attendees teach.
