School-based PT and PE (both adapted and regular) are professions that play a role in addressing a child’s motor skill and function at school. The intersection between the two professions is not clearly defined and has not been thoroughly addressed recently within the literature. This session will review the current state of inter-professional cooperation, and provide a new strategy for development of IEP and PT goals that complement each other within the school setting. Motor Learning Theory, the National Physical Education Standards, the ICF Model, and the ABCD Method of goal development provide background for a structured approach that spams the disconnect between IDEA and various state practice act requirements. The A4 strategy will be introduced and participants will have an opportunity to apply it to IEP and PT goal development.
