Ellen Bannister, MA, is Academic Programs Coordinator of the Center for Learning and Leadership/ Oklahoma's federally-designated University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She is also the mother of two boys with developmental disabilities.
Ellen works with self-advocates, family advocates, community partners, and interdisciplinary faculty across the state of Oklahoma. She directs the Self-Advocates as Medical Educators/ Family Advocates as Medical Educators (SAME/FAME) project: an interdisciplinary curriculum to improve the attitudes, skills, and knowledge of health care students in the area of developmental disabilities.
