Ms. Sparenberg is an Environmental Specialist with the Maryland Environmental Service who works with local governments to increase community resiliency to flooding and other hazards. Prior to joining MES, Ms. Sparenberg was the Hazard Mitigation Officer for the Maryland Historical Trust. She developed and implemented MHT’s Weather It Together: Protecting Maryland’s Historic Places from Natural Hazards Program, which is aimed at protecting cultural resources from the effects of natural hazards and climate change. Ms. Sparenberg holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and a Master of Arts in Historic Preservation from Goucher College.
