Medical products, such as devices, play a crucial role in the treatment and diagnosis of illness and disease. However, patient infections can occur when a medical device is contaminated or misused.

This session will provide an overview of the regulatory and public health response framework for managing medical device investigations, emphasizing the essential contributions made by IPs and other healthcare partners.

Learning Objectives:

• Develop an awareness of federal agency engagement in medical device investigation and response to infections or outbreaks
• Identify characteristics or uses of medical devices that may make them more susceptible to infection or outbreak
• Identify the CORHA website as an additional resource to assist with infection and outbreak investigations involving medical devices
