The Infection Control Assessment Tools were developed by CDC for awardees under the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) Program to assist health departments in assessing infection prevention practices and guide quality improvement activities (e.g., by addressing identified gaps). This session will provide a national overview of ICAR data and gaps identified in the acute care and long term care settings.

Learning Objectives:

• Upon completion, participants will be able to describe Federal/State/Local Public Health infection control program assessment efforts through Infection Control and Response (ICAR) activities at Acute Care Hospitals and Nursing Homes, 2015-2018
• Upon completion, participants will be able to discuss lessons learned by two State (Washington and New Jersey) Public Health programs from ICAR assessments in Acute Care Hospitals and Nursing Homes
• Upon completion, participants will identify actions taken by the State Public Health programs to address ICAR gaps identified in Acute Care Hospitals and Nursing Homes in Washington and New Jersey
