During this session, learn about the NHSN Antimicrobial Use (AU) Option. Participants will cover a number of discussion points including: what data are submitted, approaches for data validation and common data quality issues, and how to compare a hospital’s antimicrobial use to the national aggregate using the NHSN Standardized Antimicrobial Administration Ratios.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe the required data elements for submission into the NHSN AU Option.
• Identify ways to validate your hospital's AU data before and after submission to NHSN.
• Review and interpret NHSN AU Option analysis reports including the Standardized Antimicrobial Adminstration Ratios (SAARs).
