Quality improvement science is central to the success of an IPC program and is particularly key for novice IPs. This session discusses the definition, steps, and implementation of a quality improvement project using the example of a project done in the NICU to increase compliance of parent and visitor hand hygiene.
This interactive session gives participants an opportunity to begin to create a plan for a quality improvement project at their facility that they can start as soon as they get home.
This session uses the specific example of the NICU, however, information is generalizable and can be used for any improvement project in any practice setting.
Quality improvement projects offer increases in overall efficiency, patient safety, and clinical outcomes.
