This session focuses on a critical-access hospital’s journey as it worked to create an Antibiotic Stewardship Program with limited funds, to increase our patient care safety and improve patient satisfaction surveys. Though this facility recognized the importance of ASP they did not have the capacity or resources to implement the desired program.

This session will cover how the hospital devised solutions to fund the proposed plan, the low-cost resources used to design and maintain the plan, and a review of their approach for team goal-setting.

Learning Objectives:

• Upon completion, participants will be able to define possible sources of funding or low-cost programs and assistance to implement an Antibiotic Stewardship Program that includes guiding principles and strategies.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to describe what an infection preventionist, pharmacist and quality manager can do to support an Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
• Upon completion, participants will define the inherent challenges of implementing an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in a small, critical-access health care system.
