A current national APIC Board member, Linda is also an expert on health care facility design and construction, improving guidelines and resources with the aim to reduce infection risks to patients and staff. In 2017 she was honored to receive the President's Distinguished Service Award for service in this sector. Linda has been a member of APIC since 1994, and has served as ambassador for APIC to other essential partners for infection preventionists, including the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI). In this capacity, Linda was influential in the development of a new standard (188) from ASHRAE aimed at mitigating risks from Legionella. In coordination with the CDC and AHRQ, Linda was also the project lead for developing the 2018 publication "Using the Health Care Physical Environment to Prevent and Control Infection".
