Dana Piatek, MSN, RN, CIC is the Manager of Infection Prevention for UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson located in Western Pennsylvania. She is a registered nurse with experience in Telemetry, Critical Care, and Long-Term Care settings; she began her career as an Infection Preventionist in 2010. Dana has a bachelor’s degree in nursing science from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in nursing science from Carlow University and obtained her board certification in infection prevention and control in 2015. She is completing her master's degree in Public Health at George Washington University. Dana has been a member of APIC since 2007 and served as the chapter president for the Eastern Ohio-Western Pennsylvania APIC chapter in 2016 and is serving as the chapter Secretary. She is currently a member of APIC’s Practice Guidance Committee and was appointed to the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority’s HAI Advisory Panel in 2019.
