Mary Catanzaro has worked in the healthcare field for more than 30 years. Mary received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Temple University and her nursing education from Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She has been Certified in Infection Control and Prevention since 2007 and became a Fellow of the Association of Infection Prevention and Control (APIC) in 2017. She is currently a project manager with the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania and works in the Quality Initiatives Department. There she oversees the Hospital Associated Infections collaboratives which include CLABSIs, CAUTIs, SSIs, VAE, CDI, and antimicrobial stewardship.
She has published in American Journal of Infection Control and Prevention on Clostridium difficile prevention efforts and in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology on ventilator associated pneumonia reduction. Mary co-authored an article in the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Advisory on the reduction of SSIs using a decolonization bundle.
