Dr. Julia Sammons is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Perelman School of Medicine and attending physician at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where she serves as Hospital Epidemiologist and Medical Director of the Department of Infection Prevention and Control. Dr. Sammons graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed both her pediatric residency and fellowship training in infectious diseases at CHOP. She also holds a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) degree from the Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Sammons’ scholarly interests include the epidemiology and prevention of healthcare-associated infections, as well as how to optimize implementation of quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing preventable harm in hospitalized children. At CHOP, Dr. Sammons leads multiple hospital-based initiatives aimed at improving patient safety and serves as the physician program leader for CHOP’s Harm Prevention Program.
