JoAnn Adkins is a registered nurse and a Senior Infection Preventionist for the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority. In her role at the Authority, she works with healthcare facilities to improve patient safety through infection prevention initiatives. JoAnn has presented educational programs for hospitals, long term care and ambulatory surgery systems at the local, state and national levels. She has authored several articles and is published in the Advisory. JoAnn is a graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing and Eastern University. She is a Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (FAPIC) and is board-certified in infection control and epidemiology (CIC). JoAnn is a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Prevention (APIC), the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society (STTI), the Pennsylvania Association Directors of Nursing Administration Long Term Care (PADONA) and the Central Pennsylvania Association for Healthcare Quality (CPAHQ).
