In today’s business and technology environment, disruptors such as Amazon, Apple, ICER, blockchain technology, and others are threatening to displace incumbents as they transform products and services to improve the consumer experience, lower cost and raise the quality of life. Health care has had its share of disruptions and innovations in the form of new drugs, devices, processes and payment models, but most disruptive innovators who have tried to change the care delivery system have been challenged to reach broad adoption. With the growing discontent among consumers, employers and the government over unsustainable costs, innovative disruptors are re-challenging the delivery system with renewed energy.
