This workshop will focus on the rationale and experience utilizing a positive-youth development approach in creating youth-adult alliances. Staff from the Public Policy Research Institute at Texas A&M University will describe their experience highlighting the expanded role of youth in developing the Texas Youth Action Network. The members of the Puerto Rico Youth Advisory Council (YAC) will share the step by step process used to develop and assure its YAC’s continuity. This session will allow for MCH workforce attendees to learn about new ways to reach out to youth and interested adults with the goal of building successful youth-adult partnerships and to structure a plan to create a YAC in their jurisdiction.
