NEST (Neurodevelopmental Ecological Screening Tool) is a psychometrically-validated, easy-to-use, online screening tool. NEST encourages partnership between providers and caregivers, identifies a child’s likelihood for developmental risk, and provides real-time recommendations to build resilience. A practical tool, NEST was designed to close the gaps in community practice and make valid developmental screening accessible to families and providers in low-resource settings. NEST screens children across 3 domains – Child, Caregiver, and Environment – and 12 key developmental constructs to assess risk. We will share our findings, describe item development, data analysis, and challenges encountered, and discuss implications for policy and practice.
