Adolescent Health (includes youth development and transition)
Adolescents who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questing (LGBTQ+) deserve affirming and respectful experiences in all health centers. However, creating this positive health care experience requires training for providers and staff alike. As a simple way to spark these conversations, Michigan Medicine’s Adolescent Health Initiative developed a suite of innovative mini-trainings focused on training staff and providers in affirming care for LGBTQ+ youth. The suite includes mini-trainings on Common Terms & Concepts, Welcoming Environments, and Inclusive Language. These ready-to-use 15-minute trainings are designed for use in primary care, specialty, or school-based health centers. In this workshop, participants will participate in one of the mini-trainings, address challenges to its delivery, and receive the materials needed to replicate it in their own setting.
