The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is conducting a trauma-informed, intersectional Title V Needs Assessment that aims to advance health equity while elevating the strengths of our state’s communities. We have been conducting needs assessment-related activities since January 2018, and during July of 2018 distributed a Discovery Survey that yielded over 2,700 responses from across the state, with 750 respondents providing their names and contact information so they can be included in future needs assessment work. We have many valuable insights, ‘lessons learned’, and tools to share with other states who are planning for or currently engaged in their needs assessment work including but not limited to: templates for stakeholders engagement and survey messaging, guidance on creating a brand for your work, and sharing the approach to stakeholder engagement that led to such a strong survey response.
