Workforce and Leadership Development
Increasingly, public health discourse recognizes that advancing maternal and child health outcomes across the population requires the institutional adoption of a health equity lens. Yet organizations are challenged to identify resources and strategies to effectively incorporate an equity framework into their daily work, organizational goals, and workforce development plans. This session will present a partnership involving two public health organizations – one practice, one academic – in collaboration with other anti-racist community organizers and educators. We will describe collaborative activities undertaken in the context of this partnership and discuss key lessons learned. The activities described reinforce one another when carried out in tandem, but may be adopted individually by institutions working to build a workforce better equipped to address health disparities.
