Lead MCH Epidemiologist

Ms. Kristen Shealy has worked as an Epidemiologist in the field of MCH for over 18 years. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science at Clemson University and then her Master of Science in Public Health degree in Epidemiology from the University of South Carolina. Ms. Shealy got her start at the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control with the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (also known as PRAMS) as the Operations Manager. Ms. Shealy has served in almost every capacity on the PRAMS project in the state and also supported PRAMS at the federal level as a contract Epidemiologist and Program Manager. In this role, she provided technical assistance to several state-based grantees on all programmatic aspects and also participated in analytic and project development activities. Ms. Shealy has recently returned to the South Carolina Health Department in the role of Lead MCH Epidemiologist within the Bureau of Health Improvement and Equity. Ms. Shealy and the MCH Epi Team provide support to the Bureau of MCH, providing MCH data to inform programs and policies that serve moms and children in the state.
