Dr. Chaquetta Johnson is Deputy Director of Operations for the Louisiana STD/HIV Program. In this capacity, she assists with the oversight of statewide STD, HIV and Viral Hepatitis program activities and offers clinical consultation to internal and external partners. She has 15+ years of experience with the Louisiana Office of Public Health, including several years providing direct care as a Nurse Practitioner and serving as a Regional Nurse Manager. She completed a B.S. in Nursing and dual Master’s degrees in Nursing and Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Johnson completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Vanderbilt University, receiving the 2013 Founder’s Medal for the School of Nursing, which cited her work studying the relationship between contraceptive choice and the incidence of STDs. She has served on numerous civic and professional boards including the Louisiana Health Works Commission and the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD) Board of Directors. Dr. Johnson is committed to her work in STD prevention, especially among minority populations, and has particular interest in women's health and congenital syphilis prevention.
