Derval N. Petersen, DHED, MAOM, currently holds the position of Territorial Director of the Title V Program (Maternal Child Health Program and Children with Special Health Care Needs Program) and Program Lead, Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program at the US Virgin Islands Department of Health (USVI DOH). In these roles, Dr. Petersen oversees programs to augment direct health care services to include pediatric and prenatal clinics; enabling services such as the newborn hearing screens, genetic counseling, case management, home visiting programs; and infrastructure building services to include strategic planning, needs assessments, and policy development.
Dr. Petersen is a current Fellow of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program at the University of Vermont. She holds both a Doctorate in Health Education and a Masters in Organizational Management; and completed her Bachelors of Arts, majoring in English. Dr. Petersen is a proud mother of three lovely young ladies with her husband of nineteen years.
