Gloria Iris Montalvo Ortega, MD is Associate Director of the Comprehensive Adolescent Health Program (Servicios Integrales de Salud al Adolescente SISA, Spanish acronym) within the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division of Puerto Rico Department of Health (DOH) and is Puerto Rico Adolescent Health Coordinator in the National Network of State Adolescent Health Coordinators (NNSAHC). She earned her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. She also earned Montessori Education Teacher Certifications for preschool through high school levels and was instrumental in starting the first Montessori Middle-High School in Puerto Rico. Over the last decade she has worked towards the advancement or positive youth development in Puerto Rico and the establishment of the first DOH Youth Advisory Council in 2016. Positive Youth Development work is present through SISA's ongoing two main projects: Youth Health Promoters Project and DOH Youth Advisory Council. Contact her at gmontalvo@salud.gov.pr
