Isabella Gonzalez, is a Youth Engagement Specialist for the NJDOH and is currently studying at Hofstra University, pursuing a degree in Clinical Psychology/ Social Work. In March 2017, Ms. Gonzalez was invited to join NJ’s AYAH-CoIIN Cohort 2 leadership team as a volunteer due to her experience as both a program participant and youth leader at her high school. Shortly after the AYAH-CoIIN kick-off summit, she was hired to the NJDOH adolescent health team due to her contributions and dedication to AYA health. Prior to her work with NJDOH and the CoIIN, Ms. Gonzalez completed the Teen Outreach Program in High School and participated in the first cohort of TOP junior facilitators, trained to co-facilitate with adults. Ms. Gonzalez was the recipient of a 2016 youth leadership award presented by Planned Parenthood and continues to work with the YAB in her school/ region as a young adult ally. In additional to these activities, Ms. Gonzalez is a full time student, supportive daughter and amazing big sister to her brother, yet she never misses an opportunity to lend a hand and talk with other youth and adults about actively engaging them in public health issues that affect their lives.
