ALA recognizes that equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) impacts all aspects of work among members of the association, within the field of librarianship, and within the communities served by libraries. This work includes addressing, dismantling, and transforming policies, structures, and biases. This pre-conference aims to facilitate an understanding of self and our interactions with others.
We will begin to identify and disrupt learned behaviors by exploring of implicit bias, cultural competence and privilege. This session will also introduce the officially adopted definitions of equity, diversity, and inclusion developed by members of ALA as a model for libraries. The pre-conference is designed as an interactive workshop.
