There has been much discussion about the state of research in the field of school librarianship. This session will provide a timely update on the research of the field. Panelists Green and Johnston will present on Still Polishing the Diamond: School Library Research over the Last Decade, an in-depth report that looks back at school library research from the past 10 years with an eye toward what was learned from previous research to advance and identify pathways for the future inquiry. Dawkins and Branyon will continue fleshing out the future of school library research with a focus on their most recent article Riding the NxtWave to Library Leadership: Two Participants Reflect on their Experiences, with an emphasis on where they see library research headed and how 21st century trends, and issues with educational access in rural, low-income areas, influence research agendas. Finally, Ann Ewbank will discuss school library research and its position in the social sciences, at the nexus of scholarship in education, information, technology, literature, organizational psychology, political science and other fields.
