Michelle Tea is the author of numerous works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, Young Adult and children's literature. Her memoir, Valencia, is a queer literary classic and was made into a feature-length film with 21 discrete directors, casts and crew. Her essay collection, Against Memoir: Complaints, Confessions and Criticisms was honored with the 2019 PEN/Diamonstein-Speilvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. She is the founder of the long-running queer performance tour Sister Spit; the Bay Area literary non-profit RADAR Productions, the online parenting journal Mutha Magazine and the global sensation Drag Queen Story Hour. She curated the Sister Spit Books series for City Lights Publishers, and is the current curator of Amethyst Editions and Drag Queen Story Hour Books, both at The Feminist Press.
