Annual Conference Session
In this session led by Maureen Schlosser and Mona Kerby, school librarians will explore strategies for stimulating engagement with learners and educators.
Kerby argues that building quality school library collections is no longer enough and will outline three strategies critical to preparing school librarians for making collection development decisions that ensure learners and educators actively engage with the materials.
Schlosser fosters engagement through instruction using picture books to inspire big thinking, thoughtful conversations, and deep reflection in learners. Demonstrating new ways to organize, deliver, and assess instruction, Schlosser will share tips and tools to support collaborative practice and engagement with classroom and content-area educators.
Attendees will leave this session inspired with ideas for shaping school library instruction and collections to boost engagement in their communities.
