Program
In an increasingly digital world many people feel lost in a sea of disinformation, unable to determine fact from fiction. Libraries are at the epicenter of literacy initiatives, making them an ideal place for community education on digital citizenship. Leveraging the design of Newseum Educations's new community program, Escape Fake News, this session will showcase ways to create a public program on media literacy designed to help participants shape the flow of information they encounter in their daily lives. Participants will learn how to structure non-partisan conversations around controversial topics, tangible techniques for spotting fake news and misinformation, and how to implement this programming in their own communities.
