Innovation is the process through which value is created and delivered to a community of individuals in the form of a new solution, a solution that is new to its proposed application, or a meaningful “breakthrough” change in results, services, or processes. In this session, we will discuss real solutions delivering value to their organizations’ employees, patients, and residents. Topics will include how facility leadership and front line staff can incorporate innovation into workflow and QAPI processes as well as methods and techniques for designing new solutions through the guidance of patients and residents. Additionally, we will talk about leveraging technology as a component for some of these solutions (but not always).

Learning Objectives:

Discuss the role of technology, and how best to leverage it for the right reasons.
Explain how a prototype and thought experiment can greatly reduce your time and investment when designing new solutions.
Discuss techniques for staying lean and adaptable as an organization (of any size).
