The facility assessment reflects what resources are necessary to care for residents during both day-to-day operations and emergencies. In light of Phase 3 Requirements of Participation and implementation of the patient driven payment model (PDPM), now is the time to conduct a comprehensive review of facility systems and processes to update the facility assessment. Staffing responsibilities may have changed, in addition to plans for clinical care and coordination. In particular, if the PDPM is resulting in changes to the types of patients being admitted to skilled nursing and the care they receive, the facility assessment can help you take stock of these changes and ensure that the necessary processes are in place. This session will review how the facility assessment is evolving, with practical tips to help you manage risk. The speaker will explain how the buildings she oversees are updating the facility assessment a year later with all the ongoing regulatory and payment changes.
