Standardized Patient Instruction (SP) is a patient-centered approach to teach and assess communication, physical examination and collaboration within intraprofessional and interprofessional teams of students and/or faculty. Collaboration with other units/institutions can provide access to SP's for any school/program. Participants will learn how to design and implement SP scenarios to meet CODA standards for communication skills, cultural competence and interprofessional education, and for faculty development and calibration, to meet needs identified in recent survey of dental school academic deans. Using collaborative learning in facilitated small groups, participants will develop a SP scenario, its learning objectives and assessment tool.
