A major challenge of clinical teaching is balancing the goals of teaching with those of patient care while transforming novice students into practicing health care practitioners. Incorporating best practices and newer principles of adult learning can significantly improve a teacher’s ability to engage and inspire students without compromising patient care. Participants will learn and practice some of the innovative teaching approaches and feedback skills that can be integrated into clinical teaching sessions. Facilitated discussion among session participants will foster ideas for the practical implementation of these teaching strategies across a range of dental and dental hygiene school settings.
