Today’s ethnically diverse population benefits from culturally and linguistically competent dental care. As oral health professionals, we must identify barriers to care in communities we serve and create solutions, bringing change through implementation of culturally appropriate programs. But how do we get past the barriers that surround minority groups, such as language and culture? This course demonstrates the power of multicultural collaborations and enables you to visualize opportunities that exist in your community and beyond. Bring the vision to life by empowering student engagement with community leaders as they embark on a common quest for solutions to oral health problems.

Learning Objectives:

• Define cultural and linguistic competence and its application in dental care settings.
• Describe the benefits of building collaborations with individuals and/or organizations.
• Recognize opportunities in own community for increasing access to dental care through coalition and collaboration building.
