Back pain and disability have been on the rise amongst dental practitioners in recent years. Prolonged static postures in combination with poor posture and muscle imbalances can progress to musculoskeletal disorders if not properly addressed. Participants will discover the mechanisms that lead to injury and pathways to prevention. Joseph Pilates developed his series of movements to attain proper spinal architecture, and to provide a full body exercise and rehabilitation practice. The Pilates Method addresses the group of muscles that are neglected and weakened during the practice of dentistry, yet critical in order to prevent back pain and injury.
