Emma Bartle, B.Sc.(Hons), M.Sc., PhD, GCHEd

Increased understanding of the importance of the oral health care team into overall health care planning for individuals is changing the way educators think about patient-centred care. Dental education is being reformed to include meaningful learning opportunities for students to develop interprofessional knowledge and skills. However, assessing interprofessional skills is challenging due to practical difficulties and a dearth of scholarship and robust assessment tools. Participants will learn about the interprofessional competencies today's graduates require, the use of video-based assessment in dental education, a new assessment tool for assessing interprofessional competencies and strategies on how to embed this tool into their own curricula.
