The "me too" movement exposed sexual abuse and related harassment issues across populations. Student clinicians may be subjected to unwanted sexual advances, violence or discriminatory behavior from patients based on sex/gender, race, religion or ethnicity. The scope of the problem in dental education is largely unknown, making it difficult for schools to establish appropriate support mechanisms. Workshop developers will survey dental hygiene and dental students across the US and Canada; you will discuss the results and related literature. You will identify inappropriate situations, identify the impact on the student-victim and develop consensus around strategies for supportive interventions in dental education.
